Thank you Grandmaster Khachiyan.
just studied this game again. this is real instruction. you really make an effort to sharpen up the students and tell them exactly what's what, and why. Very commendable; even tho not to much sticks in my old spongy brain!
Matamoros is thinking; it's spring, it's a nice time of year in Spain, what the hell am I doing in San Diego, getting run over by this guy?
Loved it! This is how I'd like to play.
So instructive. Thanks.
Love the ending!
Right On ! You make it look easy I love it. You know you are a bad ass GM when you are sure you can win in all the lines lol.
Awesome, I really liked the analysis and importance of the pawn structures.
this is like playing against a bad bishop
wow....hope your opponent don't feel too much burned from this analysis ;)
Really enjoyed this video, and would love to see more examples of end game transitions and technique. Makes it even more instructive when thematic plans connected to common pawn structures/openings are illustrated.
di GM Melikset Khachiyan
Here GM Khachiyan reviews a big win he had as black at a tournament he won over President's Day weekend. In his own words, winning this event was a "recession buster", and Melik talks about his philosophy both on and off the chess board going into his game against Matamoros. He ultimately finds a way to convert a better pawn structure into a winning Knight vs Bishop ending, and as usual, he provides great advice on the techniques used to beat his opponent.
